Snowfall covering the land in a blanket of cold cotton.
Scattered atop the cold cotton cover, food for feathered friends.
An inspection begins of the food offering left behind.
I took these photos December 6, 2024. We had snowfall the previous night and I went for a hike at the local conservation area.
The local Northern Cardinals and Black-capped Chickadees were active and darting about looking for food.
At one part of the trail, I saw this female Northern Cardinal. I scattered some sunflower seeds on the trail and backed away.
She dropped down from the hedges and began an inspection of the seeds. She tried a few and continued her inspection. I smiled and continued on my hike.
English - Korean:
Snow = 눈 / nun (pronounced like ‘noon’)
Wonderful sijo, writing and incredible photos of this cardinal, Neil. I really like the series and the bird's gestures especially stand out against the snow.
Snow covers all the ground
In the distance a poet throws seeds to a little bird
